The trial, buying, your key, your devices, and what happens if you never buy.
The trial
Bakspace is free for fourteen days, with every feature. The trial starts the first time it is online. The days left show at the foot of the binder, on Home and in Settings > General.
After the trial
Nothing locks. Every project opens, and you can write, export and keep snapshots as before. A quiet line along the bottom of the window says Unlicensed. Your trial has ended. Everything still works., with Buy Bakspace and Enter licence key beside it.
Buying
Buy Bakspace, in the app or on this site, opens the checkout in your browser. It is US$49, once, with every future update, and it covers Windows and Linux when they arrive. Your key is on the page after you pay, and in an email.
On that page, Open in Bakspace fills the key in for you; press Activate. Or enter it yourself: Enter licence key in Settings > General, or Bakspace > Enter Licence Key in the menu. Keys start with BKSP-.
Within 30 days of buying, you can have your money back for any reason: reply to your licence email. The key then stops working on every device.
Your devices
One key works on up to ten devices at a time. Enter it on an eleventh and the one you used least recently is removed to make room; enter the key there again whenever you need it.
Once licensed, Settings > General lists your devices and when each was last used. You can rename one, or remove one you no longer use.
- Remove licence takes the licence off this Mac and frees its place on your key. Bakspace keeps working, unlicensed, until you enter a key again. It needs the internet.
- Get a new key emails a new key to the address you bought with. The old key stops working and every other device is removed; this one stays licensed. Use it if your key has got out.
Lost your key
Your key is in the email from when you bought Bakspace. If you cannot find it, enter that email address at bakspace.app/lost-key and the key is sent to it again. Keys are only ever sent to the address that paid.
